Countries with the largest installed solar photovoltaic capacity, ranked by gigawatts (GW). China leads with over 1,200 GW — more than the rest of the top 10 combined. The United States trails far behind at 212 GW, with India, Germany, and Japan rounding out the top five.

Countries with the Highest Ecological Footprint

Luxembourg leads the world with an ecological footprint of 15.82 global hectares per capita, followed by Qatar (10.80) and Australia (9.31). The United States ranks 5th at 8.40 gha per capita.

Wind Energy Capacity by Country (2025)

China dominates global wind energy with 640.6 GW installed capacity — more than the next 19 countries combined. The US ranks second at 158.8 GW, followed by Germany at 77.8 GW. India and Brazil round out the top five as emerging wind powerhouses.

Most Polluted Countries by PM2.5 (2023)

India was the world's most polluted country in 2023 with an average PM2.5 concentration of 79.9 µg/m³, about 16 times the WHO guideline of 5 µg/m³. Bangladesh and Tajikistan rounded out the top three.
